Gulfstream G-650 Pilot Staffing

You are not looking for a Gulfstream pilot. You are looking for a GVI pilot who is current in the airframe, current across the ocean, and clean on your insurance certificate. That pool is smaller than the Gulfstream label suggests. We staff Gulfstream G-650 and G-650ER crew for corporate flight departments and Part 135 operators across the country, on contract and on direct hire.

GVI Does Not Cross-Credit From the Rest of the Fleet

The G-650 and G-650ER share one FAA type rating, GVI, and they sit on the same type certificate, so a pilot moving between the two needs only Level A differences. Nothing else in the Gulfstream line feeds into it. A pilot with 6,000 hours of Gulfstream time and no GVI is not a candidate for your G-650, no matter how the resume reads at a glance.

The transition is real, not procedural. The G-650 was Gulfstream's first fly-by-wire aircraft, and it kept the yoke rather than moving to the active sidestick that came later with the G-500, G-600, and G-700. A G-550 captain stepping into it is learning a new flight control philosophy and a new flight deck at once. So we do not count "Gulfstream experienced" as a qualification on this type.

What We Screen Past the Rating

Time in type, and specifically time in the G-650 rather than credited from the ER or from a sim slot that was never followed by line flying. Date and location of last recurrent. Oceanic and international currency, because these aircraft are bought to fly legs a G-550 cannot: HF, SELCAL, NAT and Pacific track experience, and permit familiarity in the regions you actually fly. Duty and rest planning on 12 and 14 hour legs, including whether the trip needs a relief pilot. And whether the candidate clears the minimums written in your policy, not a generic industry number.

Contract G-650 Crew, On Our W-2

Every contract pilot we place is an IFCC W-2 employee. Background screening, drug testing, FAA records and currency verification, workers' compensation, global medical and repatriation coverage, and state employment compliance are handled before anyone gets to the aircraft. There is no 1099 arrangement, so misclassification exposure never lands on your operation. Your scheduler submits a trip request and gets a crew member.

On an aircraft that leaves the country regularly, that coverage matters more than it does on a domestic-only fleet, and it travels with the crew member.

Direct Hire for An Open G-650 Seat

When the seat is permanently open, we recruit from a passive candidate database of aviation professionals who are not on job boards and not answering postings. Background screening, FAA records verification, reference checks, and credentials review are complete before you meet anyone, and the hire joins your payroll. Plan on roughly 90 days. On a GVI seat the sourcing phase is where nearly all of that time goes.

Gulfstream G-650 staffing FAQ

What type rating does a Gulfstream G-650 pilot need?

The FAA GVI type rating. It covers the G-650 and the G-650ER, which are related aircraft on the same type certificate and require only Level A differences between them. The G-V rating that covers the G-350, G-450, GV, and G-550 does not qualify a pilot for the G-650, and the G-500, G-600, and G-700 are separate ratings again.

How quickly can you place a Gulfstream G-650 pilot?

For contract crew, we work from a current view of who is typed and available on this type, and we have filled same-day requests with less than eight hours notice. For direct hire, plan on about 90 days from the start of the search.

What is the difference between contract and direct hire for a G-650?

Contract crew work as IFCC W-2 employees for a defined trip or period, and we carry payroll, screening, insurance, and compliance. Direct hire is permanent placement on your payroll, where we source and fully vet the candidate before presenting them. Contract covers gaps, peak season, training footprints, and headcount freezes. Direct hire fills a seat that is permanently open.

Are your G-650 contract pilots 1099 contractors?

No. Every contract crew member we place is our W-2 employee and we are the employer of record, which keeps misclassification exposure off your operation.

Can you staff a cabin attendant on the same trip?

Yes. We place corporate cabin attendants on the same W-2 terms as pilots, screened and insured before the trip, so crew and cabin come through one relationship.
